Responsibilities:
· Create and direct comprehensive services for designing, developing, managing and verifying greenhouse gas projects for clients under leading protocols.
· Advise and support clients in navigating and participating in the voluntary carbon markets.
· Develop business in this area from existing and new clients.
· Communicate directly with clients.
· Secure accreditation for the Company under selected programs and protocols.
· Mentor/train junior staff to design, conduct, manage and verify greenhouse gas projects.
· Track and evaluate emerging legislative, regulatory and voluntary developments related to greenhouse gas project accounting, verification and the carbon markets.
· Contribute to the development of new protocols and processes where appropriate.
· Direct/manage/participate in other carbon-related projects for clients including (but not limited to) climate change strategy, carbon footprinting, benchmarking, corporate greenhouse gas inventory design/development/management/verification, reduction strategies and internal/external reporting.
· Develop or review proposals and other carbon-related work products and make recommendations for improvements.
Qualifications:
· Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant field.
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in carbon-related work, with five of those years directly in carbon project design, development, management or verification. Preferred experience working with EU ETS, CDM, JI or projects for voluntary markets using a recognized standard.
· In-depth knowledge of leading carbon project programs and protocols and working knowledge of voluntary carbon markets in North America required.
· Previous consulting experience preferred.
· Previous experience in the utility sector preferred.
· Excellent oral and written skills required.
