National group employee benefits insurer, and a subsidiary of a highly successful NYSE-listed financial services holding company with $5 billion in assets, has an outstanding opportunity in its Financial Reporting Department for an Intermediate Accountant.
The Accountant,
· Intermediate is responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports on a statutory basis;
· review and analysis of accounting transactions; and assisting in developing and maintaining financial accounting and reporting systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Preparation of statutory financial statements and analysis for inclusion into the monthly financial package distributed to Senior Management.
· Preparation of various analyses for inclusion into quarterly Board package for distribution to Board of Directors.
· Review and analysis of accounting transactions and the resulting account balances on a monthly and quarterly basis.
· Preparation of quarterly and annual statutory statements.
· Preparation of statutory audited reports and other supplemental annual filings. Preparation of various rating agency surveys, questionnaires and other industry-related forms.
· Assist in the design and maintenance of general ledger reports necessary to complete the financial reporting process.
· Preparation and analysis of various journal entries for monthly reporting. All other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance.
· Minimum of 3 years relevant accounting experience.
· Good technical knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles.
· Understanding of and ability to work with computerized accounting and reporting systems.
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of personnel.
