Position: Mobile System Engineering RF Engineer BSS
Location: Atlanta, Georgia, United States
Compensation: $85,000 to $90,000
The RF Engineer BSS position works with the Mobile Systems RF engineering group to support Cox engineering team on the radio access network design, implementation, deployment and acceptance of a new national Cox mobile network.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Overall responsible for Commissioning, Integration, Acceptance testing/Validation of Radio access equipment. Ability to resolve complex technical problems, Deep understanding of CDMA 1X and EVDO radio access technologies, hardware, architecture and equipment.
2. Accountable for the implementation, verification and test of new software releases and patches for the RAN platform. Activities include system level requirements and system high level design, system integration, functional analysis, capacity, maintenance, and debugging.
3. Supports Network Operations team as required for Implementation, optimization, problem resolution, and other related activities to the RAN platforms..
4. Assists in all engineering initiatives that may be impacted by RF network considerations including but not limited to: network architecture definition, vendor evaluation, new product and service development, and network operational planning. This may include working with other CCI departments such as Strategy and Business Development, Telephony, DOCSIS, and Video Engineering; Engineering Operations, Marketing, Network Operations Center, as well as various Field Engineering and Operations groups.
5. Prepares, solicits, and evaluates RF systems related technical contributions and proposals from vendors as necessary to meet Cox*s future technical requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Requires BS/BA in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
2. 4-6+ years of experience in mobile system engineering including both theoretical and practical RF engineering for voice and high-speed packet data applications, technology assessment, and architecture development. Demonstrated ability to define and solve challenging RF engineering problems using strong RF systems engineering knowledge and analytical skills.
3. Proficiency on BSS/RAN systems of of CDMA 1x and EVDO Rev A Networks. Expert level knowledge base station RF capabilities & configurations. Huawei equipment experience is required. Experience with RAN platforms Lucent, Motorola and/or Nortel is also required
4. Detailed understanding of CDMA/EV-DO mobile access technologies and working knowledge of UMTS, OFDM.
